The market value of Canadian household net worth increased by 2.2% ($132 billion) in the fourth quarter of 2010 to $6.2 trillion. Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees fell in Alberta in December but remained the highest in the country, according to Statistics Canada.
The federal agency reported Thursday that average weekly earnings in the province were $1,000.85, down 1.3 per cent from November but also 5.4 per cent higher than they were in December 2009.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce reported first quarter earnings of $799-million, or $1.92 a share, up from $652-million, or $1.58 a share in the previous year amid rising performance from the retail banking operation.
