Thursday, February 10, 2011 - Guest Blog - Joe Campbell from North Vancouver & West Vancouver

Having lived throughout British Columbia, I can confidently say that the North Shore is one of the most desirable locations our province has to offer. The area is made up of the District of North Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver and the District of West Vancouver. Combined it has an estimated population of over 176,000. Rich in natural beauty, it boasts great proximity to Metropolitan Vancouver for international shopping, culture and cuisine, world class events and facilities, all while maintaining a true small town appeal.

From Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay, cosmopolitan chique to artisan quaint and everything in between, the neighbourhoods of the North Shore each offer their own unique lifestyles. The most prevalent of which are family friendly with ample amenities, parks and recreation throughout the region. The recently regenerated Lower Lonsdale (or LoLo as it has been dubbed) is the hub for residential mixed-use waterfront developments along with the Marine Drive corridor which was once predominantly retail/commercial property, and there are some new starts taking place in small pockets to the East and North-West. In-fill housing dots some of the more mature neighbourhoods and with steep mountains on one side and ocean on the other, land values on the North Shore tend to hold stronger and/or increase steadier than most Lower Mainland municipalities.

As a twenty plus veteran of the North Shore real estate market, I can honestly say, with the right guidance – you can’t go wrong with a home purchase on the North Shore! Whether it is a two bedroom condo near a golf course in Roche Point (median price of $349,000 in January of 2011) or a palatial estate in the British Properties (median price of $2,680,000 in January of 2011) owning a home in North or West Vancouver is one of the best moves you’ll ever make. I’ve worked with clients from across the country and around the world, so it was no surprise to me when a recent headline in the Vancouver Sun Newspaper read “Want To Be Happy? Move To The North Shore”. For more information on your options in the North and West Vancouver market, ask Kerri-lyn for my card or send me an email anytime at joe@joecampbell.ca. I look forward to showing off our little piece of the province!
